The Power of Green Tea

A cup of green tea is a good way to start your day! In the past 20 years, thousands of studies have shown green tea’s benefits. Why is green tea so good for you? It's all about the catechin content. Catechins are  antioxidants that fight and may even prevent cell damage. Green tea is not processed much before it is poured in your cup, so it is rich in catechins. Green tea has been shown to improve blood flow and lower cholesterol. A 2013 review of many studies have shown that green tea helped prevent a range of heart related issues, from high blood pressure to congestive heart failure. Spice Blends for Optimal Health - The Anti -Inflammation Spice Blend

I had a history of back problems so you'd think I would have thought of it first. My neighbor walks up to me one day and asked me if I had any spice blends that contained spices and herbs that targeted, specifically, inflammation.  For well over 5 months I consumed myself with creating a spice blend that was beneficial to those looking to incorporate known spices and herbs that were abundant in anti-inflammatory properties. As the New Year rolled in many of us, including myself made resolutions to eat right and shed some unwanted pounds. The problem with diets is that we start off strong and after 2 weeks we fall off of the wagon. Why? So glad you asked! When most people think of diets, they think of bland, tasteless food with little or no flair. Okay, so I used to be guilty of that too. Here's what's different now....SPICES!!!! Instead of looking at a salad and saying "blah," I now say "oh yeah!" For instance take a plain salad with romaine lettuce mixed with spinach and get creative. Toss in shitake mushrooms sauteed with corn and black beans. Next slice up a red...

Curry Spice Blend - Spice Blends That Heal

I'm not one for eating outside of my comfort zone. That means no chocolate covered ants for me! So imagine my shock when I met and married my Asian husband. After the initial culture differences, he  introduced me to his cuisine. What....no baked macaroni, meatloaf or burgers...no way! Yes way! My husband introduced me to curry over 13 years ago and I am still crazy for curry. Curry is a blend of spices such as: fenugreek, mustard seeds, cinnamon, turmeric, coriander, ginger, cumin, black peppercorns and red pepper flakes. I talk about curry, particularly Sri Lankan Curry, whose complex blend of spices is more than a mouthful. The flavor of first toasted and then freshly ground spices are fantastic and...
